Sitting Lounge | Rainforest Villa, Saligao

The sitting lounge at Rainforest Villa isn’t just a passage—it’s a space to pause.

Rather than a corridor between living and dining, we created a moment to linger, with seating perfectly framed by the massive banyan tree outside.

It’s the spot to collapse after a meal or quietly watch sunset light filter through the leaves.

Wood-clad columns echo the tree’s roots, river-washed Jura stone grounds the space and keeps it dog-friendly, while lime-washed walls add an organic softness, blending indoors with nature.

Here, architecture and landscape meet—the lounge isn’t a transition. It’s stillness suspended between movement and rest.

As the design evolved, we kept returning to that cliffside moment- suspended between land and sea, grounded yet weightless.

The mass steps back.
Terraces recede.
Greens cascade.

The elevation softens. Shadow lines add depth, while the sinusoidal roofs anchor the form.

There is solidity in Badem.
But there is also lift.

We weren’t trying to imitate the sunset.
We were trying to internalise it- in tone, in proportion, in the way the building breathes within itself.

And that, for us, is 19 at Badem.

The Inner Landscape🌴 2 | 3

We split the mass into two primary blocks, carving out something meaningful in between- a long, linear green spine.

A rainforest courtyard, carefully nestled within, preserving the existing trees on site.

This became the organising principle of the project: a park inserted into density, a space that restores breath.
Western light filters in and travels the length of the core.

Palms rise vertically, layered with local flora.
We didn’t want residents to feel surrounded by development.

We wanted them to feel held by their own horizon.
→ Move to the final frame— where structure becomes feeling.

As the neighbourhood around the site began to densify, buildings rising rapidly in every direction, one decision became clear:

We envisioned the ground-floor 2BHK units as garden-oriented residences, where the primary social spaces extend directly into outdoor pavilions.

Organising the L-D-K as a single linear volume parallel to the landscape creates a large, uninterrupted social zone, offering flexibility in how the space is occupied and allowing the garden to remain a constant presence.

‘The Curve’

Another subtle yet meaningful element we wove into the design of Casa Tranquilo is what we call “the curve.” It’s something you may not always notice at first glance, but you certainly feel it. Soft edges are what we instinctively associate with nature - rarely do we find sharp 90-degree corners in the natural world. Introducing curves was our way of bringing that same gentle, organic comfort into the home.

Some expressions of the curve are more pronounced, like the rounded door and window frames, slabs or the arches that guide you from one space to another. Others reveal themselves slowly, the gentle curve of the pool’s edges and pool steps, the rounded edges of the furniture and even the details in the décor. Together, these curved moments create a sense of ease and familiarity, subtly strengthening the home’s biophilic connection and making every space feel just a little more calm, natural, and welcoming.

‘The Curve’

We designed them not just for their beauty, but because they genuinely shape the way the home feels. Along the south façade, these breezeblocks act like a gentle shield - filtering harsh heat while still letting the house breathe. Their porosity also creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, adding depth, movement, and softness to the interiors as the sun shifts through the day.
